JUNE  EVENTS

Summer is here . . .  
June in Atlanta marks the beginning of the summer.  Homeowners can take advantage of the HotLanta weather by lounging poolside in the amenity area or take in several concerts at various venues all around the city.  Chastain Park, Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, Woodruff Arts Center, and the Georgia Aquarium are a few of the many venues that are hosting free and paid concerts throughout the summer.  Some highlights this month include:
 
NIGHTS ON THE PIAZZA CONCERT SERIES. Free concerts every Thursday night in June at the Woodruff Arts Center (http://www.woodruffcenter.org/atthewac/).  
 
STEVIE WONDER, a music icon who has won twenty-two Grammy Awards, the most ever by a solo artist, will perform at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre on Wednesday, June 24 at 8:00 p.m.  For tickets or more information, log onto www.vzwamp.com/e28-about-stevie-wonder.php.
 
ANITA BAKER, a multiple Grammy Award winner, composer, producer, mother, and all-around superstar will perform on June 27 at 8:00 p.m. at the Chastain Park Amphitheatre.  For tickets or more information, log onto www.classicchastain.com/e3-Anita-Baker-about.php.
 
Other notable events this month include: 
 
Imagine It! The Children's Museum of Atlanta debuts Hawthor's Dragon musical. Children will engage in creative movement activities, songs, instrument exploration and a musical story time of "fiddling around" while exploring the animal kingdom of Fiddle Dee Dee. Classes are created for children 18 mos. to 3½ years with a parent or caregiver. www.imagineit-cma.org.
 
First Thursdays Artwalk features several openings in Downtown galleries. The Atlanta-Fulton Public Library Gallery hosts a reception for "Dear World: Sending a Visual Text to the World" to celebrate International Women's Month. The VSA arts of Georgia exhibition opens "Going to Red", a project inspired by the Go Red for Women Campaign and organized by the American Heart Association. The show includes original visual artwork in diverse mediums, created by local and Georgia artists. www.downtownfirstthursdays.com.
  
The Rialto Center for the Arts presents Feed Your Senses from noon to 1 p.m. The program features a different artist or speaker each month providing a casual and fun insider's look at their craft. www.rialtocenter.org

Exterior Architectural Modification
Please note as of September 19, 2008 the Wellesley Board of Directors has approved an updated version of the Architectural Modification Request Form.  This updated form is available via this website under the Documents Link. 

Violations are being evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Please do not construct any external modifications or landscape changes based on what you see in your neighbors' yard. Homeowners who make external modifications and/or landscape changes without prior authorization can be fined $120 for failure to submit an Architectural Modification Request Form. The following changes can be made without submitting a request for approval:

  • Addition or replenishment of landscape rocks, pine straw, or mulch
  • Vinyl Utility Screen (32" x 46") Model No. 73004316 (Item No. 41009), manufactured by US Fence and Yard is the only approved product used to obscure the view (store) trash cans from the curbside when not in use.  This product is sold at select Lowe's Home Improvement stores or on-line at www.lowes.com 
  • Black Iron mailbox (see Iron Mailbox Form)
  • Bushes 3' tall or less
  • Landscape edging (i.e., black plastic or bricks ONLY, can not be placed within a 10 circumference of utility structures)
  • Seasonal flowers (i.e., tulips, petunias, etc.)
  • Professionally installed sprinkler systems that are underground and on a timer
  • Storm doors (excludes etching)
  • Iron rails on the front porch from white to black (i.e., homes off of Alredge Rd.)
  • NO  wrought iron doors of any type are allowed
Additionally, homeowners need to include an approval from Fulton County along with their ARC modification request form for Tree Removal of a healthy, live tree. For more information please contact the Fulton County Chief Arborist at (404) 730-7531.
